Comparing tile & LVT flooring

If your options are stuck between tile flooring and luxury vinyl tile, we have some information that might help you make a more pointed decision. Each of these fantastic materials has specific attributes that could make one better for you than the other, so here's more information.

How do tile and LVT measure up?

Tile flooring can come in a variety of materials, including glass and natural stone. But today, we?re going to consider porcelain and ceramic.

Both of these tiles offer a hard surface that resists stains, cracks, chips, and fading, as well as exceptional waterproof abilities. They?re perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, and basements but make just as much sense in every other area of your home as well.

LVT flooring provides many of the same benefits, including durability, 100% waterproof features, and some of the most beautiful visuals in the flooring industry. However, they offer a much faster installation than porcelain or ceramic.

Vinyl tiles can also have an underlayment placed beneath the flooring for a more resilient step, comfort, and warmer touch. If you have tile, you can add softness and warmth by adding area rugs, floor mats, or runners in specific places.

Tile is an excellent choice if you have radiant heat, as it distributes the warmth efficiently. It also provides a lifespan of about 50 years or more, while LVT averages a 20-year lifespan when properly maintained.
